BOTOX / XEOMIN
Botulinum toxin A is a neurotoxin that has been processed from the naturally occurring bacterium called clostridium botulinum. It has been used in Canada for more than 25 years, providing women with amazing results. As we age, the contractions of the muscles in our face eventually produce wrinkles. The use of a neurotoxin into the muscle helps to smooth out the wrinkle. Women and men often use it preventatively to keep the wrinkles from happening at all.

WHAT IS IT?
The toxin is injected into the muscle using a very small needle. There will be multiple injections as to ensure the product is dispersed evenly.

HOW IS IT USED?
When we use our muscles, nerve endings release a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. The acetyhcholine then attaches to receptor sites of the muscles. This signal tells the muscles to contract. The injected botulinum toxin prevents the release of the acetylchoine, thus preventing the muscle from contracting. When the muscles are relaxed, the depth of the wrinkles is significantly reduced, often softening wrinkles completely.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
This question gets asked frequently and there is no exact answer. Each person is unique. This is why, we take our time to assess and make an individual plan together with the client to promote optimal results. Generally speaking however, 30-50 units is within reasonable for a client looking to soften multiple wrinkles in a particular area.
